Age Rewind Non-Surgical Face Lift
Plasma skin resurfacing is designed to improve skin tone and texture, giving it a brighter, more contoured and more youthful appearance, tightening sagging skin and reducing the appearance of loose skin around the jaw.
Are you ageing and/or suffering from acne scars, pigmentation issues, lax skin, fine and deep wrinkles and a generally older appearance? We have a solution.
At Image Med Spa we are very proud to offer the cutting edge technology of our plasma regeneration system.
What is it?
Plasma skin resurfacing uses plasma to deliver heat to a targeted treatment areas to achieve skin rejuvenation without effecting the surrounding tissues as Fractional and Ablative CO2 do. It uses an ultra-high frequency generator to convert inert nitrogen gas into activated ionized gas, which is called plasma. The technology was pioneered by the development of the our custom, one time treatment that takes 7-10 years off your face non-surgical facelift. High energy treatments are used to achieve skin tightening and skin contouring, while lower energy treatments are used to treat the early signs of ageing, such as age spots, lines and wrinkles. Quite simply the system works by penetrating the deep layers of the dermis and remodelling creating new and rejuvenated skin erasing signs of ageing and pigmentation issues. The beauty of the device is that the downtime is minimal leaving the epidermis and dead dermal layers intact while achieving a rejuvenation similar to traditional CO2. The skin acts as a barrier to protect the new skin as it slowly emerges after treatment.
Unlike light based technologies, our face lift doesn’t require a chromophore to attract it to the target area such as pigment, blood or water, therefore it works differently than CO2 but achieves similar results.
The treatment works by providinga controlled, uniform, non-fractionated energy absorption or heating across the entire area being targeted, without damaging the outer layers of skin. It produces high levels of energy which provides significant tightening of the skin.
Varying settings can be used in order to deliver differing depths of effect, including deep dermal heating to promote collagen renewal, and superficial epidermal sloughing (removal) to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Plasma skin resurfacing is designed to improve skin tone and texture, giving it a brighter, more contoured and more youthful appearance, tightening sagging skin and reducing the appearance of loose skin around the jaw. Fine lines and deeper wrinkles are reduced, hyper-pigmentation and discoloration reversed and more severe skin complaints such as actinic keratosis (pre-cancerous lesions from sun exposure), acne scarring and seborrheic keratosis treated effectively.
How it Works
Plasma skin resurfacing delivers nitrogen-based pulses of plasma via a hand piece using an ultra-high frequency generator to convert inert nitrogen gas (medical grade) into activated ionized gas called plasma. This plasma energy is directed through the tip of the hand-piece onto the targeted area, and the energy is absorbed by the targeted skin cells. This damages the cell, which encourages regeneration and regrowth. This is what enables collagen renewal and the remodelling of the internal architecture of skin, smoothing fine lines, wrinkles and tightening sagging, loose skin, allowing new, fresh skin to show through. This damage also works as what is known as a “biological dressing”, which allows the skin cells underneath to regenerate, creating the perfect conditions for continuous improvement while leaving the outer dead layers intact as opposed to ablative CO2 which requires occlusion (covering with Vaseline or Aquaphor) during the regeneration process. Plasma skin resurfacing works in a similar way to ablative (fractional) laser skin resurfacing in that minor, incredibly targeted energy damages very specific skin cells to encourage cell regrowth and renewal, which can not only improve skin tone and texture, but can also reduce scarring, improve a number of common skin complaints and increase skin rejuvenation. It can be delivered at between 1 and 4 joules of energy, with varying pulse repetition rates of between 1 – 2.5Hz. High energy treatments are typically used to achieve skin tightening and skin contouring, while lower energy treatments are used to treat the early signs of aging, such as hyper pigmentation (brown marks and age spots), wrinkles and creases around the nose and mouth and loosening skin. You may opt to do a series of lower energy treatments, in which case we will numb you with topical numbing agents and you will feel minimal pain if any. High energy treatments penetrate far more deeply into the dermis, inducing a more powerful healing response and the remodelling of collagen, tightening and contouring skin. One high energy treatment typically requires 10 to 14 days of downtime, while one low energy treatment, which does not penetrate as deeply, will require around 3 to 4 days. Generally, 3 low energy treatments spaced 3 weeks apart will yield the same or similar results as 1 high energy treatment but the high energy treatment offers a profound result that only gets better as time goes on, for up to two years according to clinical research.
We will discuss the treatment with you and your reasons for wanting it. We will answer all your questions and make sure this is the right procedure for you and set your expectations to be realistic. Pre-treatment we will also take a medical history so we know that there are no contraindications for you to undergo this procedure. We will also typically prescribe a course of anti-virals as skin resurfacing does come with the risk of triggering herpes outbreaks, especially for those prone to such outbreaks.Photographs will also be taken for a “before and after” comparison at a later date.
To reduce discomfort and any pain associated with the treatment at the lower levels a topical anaesthetic will be applied to the skin before treatment begins to numb the area. During treatment, the practitioner will pass the hand-piece over your skin, delivering targeted plasma energy across the epidermis or outer layer of skin. You will experience a feeling of heat during treatment, though it should be relatively painless. The collagen regeneration process typically begins almost immediately with some visible, tightening results seen straight after treatment. The results, however, will not be seen until your epidermis, or outer layer of skin, sloughs off revealing new youthful skin. A full face treatment usually takes around 45 minutes, with peri-orbital (around the eyes) and peri-oral (around the mouth) treatments taking around 10-15 minutes per session. Neck and décolletage take about 45 minutes and hands around 15 minutes. For other areas such as knees, elbows, arms or legs, where you may have crepe paper skin, the time will vary based on your body size and area we are treating.
